Service Description

Course Cost: $300 + $30 Registration Fee Course Duration: 15 weeks Age: 12-18 Course Description: The Current Events and Critical Issues class will explore events of interest currently happening in our community, nation, and world. Through in-class activities and homework assignments, we’ll learn the background information needed to knowledgeably discuss various sides of important topics. All questions, as well as opposing points of view, will be encouraged and honored; we will practice respectful disagreement and will learn to look for points on which we can build consensus. Topics will be guided by students’ interests but may include issues such as climate change, abortion, changing gender norms, gun rights, and food and housing insecurity. Students will be asked to keep up with news events and to contribute weekly to an online discussion board.


Cancellation Policy

Refund Policy: The LEAD Refund policy, for the $30 per-class registration fee (shown as a deposit) for dropping a class is as follows: Class canceled 2+ weeks before classes begin - full refund of LEAD fees. Class canceled 2 weeks before classes begin - 50% refund of LEAD fees. Class canceled 1 week before classes begin, including after classes begin - no refund of LEAD fees If, for some reason, a class you have signed up for is canceled (either before or after the start of classes), you will have the option of receiving a refund of your LEAD per-class fee or applying it to another class. LEAD is only responsible for collecting or refunding LEAD fees. Any class fees that are owed directly to teachers, or any refunds required from teachers, shall be handled by the teacher.
