Update 4/4/2020:
As many of you know, the Governor has issued an executive order closing all public schools for the rest of the academic year. In order to be in compliance with these mandates and help control the spread of COVID-19, the Board has made the decision to cancel all LEAD classes and events for the remainder of the Spring semester. We are continuing to monitor the situation and make decisions as we receive more information. Please check with your teachers regarding their plans for the remainder of the semester if you have not already heard from them.
We want to support and maintain a sense of community with our families during such a difficult time. Let’s keep connected — checking in with each other, offering tips, video chats, virtual “playdates”, online games, sharing of fun activities or just silly videos and memes! The forum and our Facebook pages are great places to share with each other.
We hope that you are all staying safe and healthy and we look forward to seeing everyone in the fall!
Please feel free to contact the Board if you have any questions.
Update 3/26/2020:
In keeping with Gov. Kemp's executive order to keep all K-12 public schools closed through April 24, LEAD will be closed until after Monday, April 27.
Update 3/19/2020:
Official Park Day is cancelled. City of Decatur has closed all playgrounds.
3/12/2020:
March 10, the CDC issued some additional guidelines for community organizations that indicated we should begin social distancing in an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Using that guidance and feedback from our teachers and families, the LEAD Board has decided it is in the best interest of our members, teachers and the population that we share space with at the church to close LEAD beginning Tuesday, March 17th for two weeks. This means that LEAD will not re-open until after our scheduled Spring Break, Tuesday, April 14 at the earliest. We will evaluate the situation over the break and make a decision about re-opening.
Please touch base with your teacher to see if they will be offering online classes or other materials during the closure. We are hoping to add two weeks to the end of the semester and your teacher may choose to use those weeks to do make-up classes.
We will post information on the forum, website and Facebook during the closure. We know that many kids will be disappointed about not seeing friends at LEAD, so we encourage you to post pictures or updates of what your kids are doing or have them stay connected via email or Facetime.
Additional resources regarding COVID-19 can be found at the CDC.
Please stay healthy everyone!
