Chimney Through Time Wednesday 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM Cost: $245 + $30 Supply Fee + $30 LEAD Registration Fee Duration: 14 Weeks Ages 6 - 10 Course Description: "The past is a foreign country; they do things differently there." -- L.P. Hartley, 1953 novel, The Go Between This course affords its students the chance to step back into past eras, especially, but not exclusively, 19th century London. Given my passion for this topic, I view the opportunity to teach this class as the chance of a lifetime. Students will combine their research with creativity. Along with our rich discussions and readings, students will engage in historically relevant art projects. We will examine Lee Jackson's Dictionary of Victorian London, various Time Traveler's Guides, and several other fascinating sources that will help bring us closer to the vivid sights, and at times, let us say, pungent aromas of daily life in historical contexts.
