Environmental Science & Applied Ecology Thursdays, 10-10:55 AM Teacher: Mel Medalle (she, they, siya) Course Cost: $50-450. Sliding scale available. Please contact Mel at melanie.medalle@gmail.com. Course Duration: 15 weeks Ages: 6-12 Get ready for a deep dive together into the wild of ecology. Our tools? Environmental science fundamentals, creative thinking, teamwork, a bit of research, and shared problem-solving. This course will level-set on environmental science and ecology concepts and progressively apply this learning to address real-world environmental problems (like the changing climate, food & farms, and habitat loss) using creativity and community. Together we will strengthen our cooperation and adaptation muscles in problem-based games, activities, and brief take-home assignments. We will have a coordinated mid-semester field trip (encouraged but not required) and will culminate with teams sharing about their creative problem-solving journeys using their medium of choice and celebrating!
Cancellation Policy
Refund Policy: The LEAD Refund policy for dropping a class is as follows: • Class canceled 1+ weeks before classes begin = full refund of class and LEAD fees. • Class canceled 1 week before OR after classes begin = no refund of LEAD fees. Refund of class fees is up to the discretion of the instructor. If, for some reason, a class you have signed up for is canceled by LEAD or the instructor (either before or after the start of classes), you will have the option of receiving a refund of your LEAD per-class fee or applying it to another class. These terms are subject to change per semester.
