Details

Join us at LEAD from June 10 - 14, 2024 8:30AM - 2:00PM Campers will have the opportunity to build their own elite level RC car from a kit of parts. This hands-on experience will let your child explore the fundamentals of engineering such as gearing, electric motors, power distribution and more. At the end of the camp they will have a precision RC car that they will not only be able to repair and maintain, but do so with the pride of having assembled and tuned it themselves! All materials, battery and tools required to build the car are included. Camp Cost: $399 + $150 Kit and material fee (to take home) Grades: 6 - 12 Camp Schedule 8:30 - 9:00 drop off 9:00 - 9:30 STEAM Activity 1 9:45 - 10:45 Outdoor activity 11:00 - 11:45 Lunch (possible outdoors) 12:00 - 2:00 STEAM Activity 2 About the RC Kit: "Racing Fighter is mounted on the fun and easy to build DT-03 chassis platform. Intended as an easy-to-get-started model to encourage young drivers to enter the world of R/C, its intuitive yet tough design allows hassle-free assembly and gives less experienced users the opportunity to get to grips with R/C model composition and construction. This kit features a brand new polycarbonate body design with attractive, boxy lines and a stylish rear wing. This kit includes an added bonus! It features a torque-tuned motor and CVA oil dampers to make it faster out of the box. The CVA oil dampers allow the chassis to better handle the rugged terrain of any park or dirt field. DT-03 Chassis at a glance: The stylish slim-line form of this chassis stems from its lightweight yet durable monocoque frame, which features a longitudinally-positioned battery and the R/C equipment along the centerline for excellent balance. The combination of a long 287mm wheelbase and 4-wheel double wishbone suspension married to CVA oil dampers with long arms, allows the model to handle with stability on poor surfaces. Ribbed front and square spike rear tires provide ample grip, and the rear-positioned gearbox is sealed to protect from dust and dirt, with the built-in differential gear offering smooth cornering." LEAD Camps are open to both members and non-members! All Campers will be required to sign an insurance waiver on the first day of camp at check in.
